Conversation about Jesus

January 13, 2024 Second Saturday Conversation continued our discussion about Jesus.  Does he continue to be an important figure for us today?   He affirms our human possibility. And describes a very different God than was presumed in his day. We wonder if he continues to do the same today.  Thoughts from attendees of Second Saturday deserve a close hearing. Enjoy this conversation. And add to it with your own.

Reminder:  Next Second Saturday Conversation February 10, 2024 with guest Belden C. Lane, pastor, professor, author, lover of nature and souls, wisdom and wonder.

  1. Thank you for continuing to have hope. I listened to Jan 13 discussion. Progressive theology, the Jesus Seminar and teachers (so many professors, etc.) have kept me engaged in the discussion. Can Jesus be saved from the church, the dogma, the off the rails Christianity that has hyjacked his vision.??? Jesus is threatening as well as life giving. people are invested in their made up lies to make them feel saved or whatever they are getting out of the delusion. Christianity is so off the rails and it is in fact a distraction to the Jesus that teaches love and wonder and possibly. Jesus is relevant for sure. Church is dead if you ask me. It is like trying to talk to someone committed to the cult of Trump. Deafness, dumbness and blindness infect the church. Jesus knew that about his own Jewishness. What now? What is humanness now? How do we be human? Jesus models that for me and I see his model as universal. How to get this out in away that people can hear, see and understand.
