Ron Werner, Jr.

Ron Werner, Contributor to the Unending Conversation

Rev. Ron Werner, Jr. continues the unending conversation. Ron did an interview sermon with Marcus shortly after we moved to Central Oregon.  They were a riveting duo rivaling the Dom and Marcus show. (Dom Crossan and Marcus often co-presented.) Ron was also a speaker at a commemorative weekend honoring Marcus as Canon Theologian at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Portland in fall 2015.  I wish Marcus were here to collaborate more with Ron.  Oh what we are missing. Here is a bio of Ron.  The next generation.

Ron has been a community leader in Oregon for the past eleven years. He currently serves as a pastor/organizer in Portland, where he is bringing together people in the first half of life to explore and experiment with spirituality, community & collective action. He is active in the movement for immigrant rights, racial justice, and all things interfaith. Prior to living in the city, he served Nativity Lutheran and First Presbyterian churches in Bend as Director of Youth Ministries. Ron is the co-founder of the Bend Youth Collective, an ecumenical, collaborative, and progressive approach to youth ministry that is now taking root in neighborhoods and cities throughout Oregon.

Ron is an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He received his Master of Divinity from Iliff School of Theology in Denver. Ron enjoys traveling, cooking, and throwing living room dance parties with his wife Erin, a public high school teacher and their two young daughters Dylan and Averie.

Enjoy his reflection and prompting question which will be posted on the 21st.
