Reverend Canon Adrian Alker is Chair of the Progressive Christianity Network Britain. He has been a priest in the Church of England since 1979 and was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Sheffield for his work in the community. In our “Unending Conversation” Adrian offers reflections on his relationship with Marc that began in 2000 when Adrian served at St. Mark’s Broomhill, Sheffield. Marc’s visit led to the founding of the St. Mark’s Center for Radical Christianity (I think they really should rename it St. Marc’s Center…..) St. Marks Sheffield became one of the leading liberal churches in the UK. In May, 2016, Adrian sponsored the first Marcus Borg Lecture. Diana Butler Bass, a friend and colleague of Marc’s, was the speaker. In September, Adrian will speak at Common Dreams, the alliance of progressive Christianity in Australia and New Zealand, exploring themes in his recent book, “Is A Radical Church Possible? Reshaping its Life for Jesus’ Sake.” It is dedicated to Marc. Forward by Jack Spong. Recommended by Dom Crossan. Need I say more? Enjoy Adrian’s reflection and prompting question.
