I offered an overview of our year. Where I started in September 2023 and where we arrived in June 2024. A non-linear recap for a non-linear year. But thematic threads ran throughout.
Our guests were Scott Holland who introduced us to Theopoetics, an underlying theme for the year, Brandon Scott and Jack Caputo who talked about Jesus and Christianity, Belden Lane who brought us back to the importance of “the great conversation” with the natural world, and in May my friend and colleague Jeff Creswell led us in reflecting on two powerful poems that we can keep in our pocket and refer to as we travel the way with one another.
The people who attend and participate in Second Saturday Conversation are what make Second Saturday a community experience. They are from all over the country and beyond the pond, the great Atlantic. We are curious, hopeful with eyes wide open, imaginative, kind, dauntless. To borrow a phrase, we are the ones we have been waiting for. We make a difference. And do so with compassion and care.
