At our Second Saturday Conversation October 11 we had “A conversation on the edge of things” with Arthur Dewey. Art is a New Testament scholar, was part of the Jesus Seminar, is author and commentator, and is a poet. He presented and invited us to reflect Theopoetically. Even though he didn’t call it that. He drew upon language of experience, perception and poetry to talk about what matters most.
We “sleep to time’s hurdy-gurdy” wrote Annie Dillard. Art Dewey awakened us to language’s transformative function. And reminded us we are conscious of something deeper and more fundamental than the hurdy-gurdy.
Enjoy “A conversation on the edge of things” with Art Dewey. And see if awakens something in you that has actually been there all along.
(One of our attendees commented to me after the gathering that this was a very “right brain” session. He is very “left brain.” And wasn’t sure he “got it.” Right brain thinking is associated with “intuition, creativity and holistic thinking.” Left brain thinking is linked to “logic and analysis.” How did Art’s conversation strike you???)
Thanks to Art for what he shared and how he shared it. I will return to some of his thoughts next time.
Our next Second Saturday Conversation is November 8. I look forward to seeing you then.
