Into the Deep Introduction
In June of 2018 the Marcus J. Borg Foundation sponsored our first lecture weekend with speaker Michael Morwood. Following that event many asked us to continue to provide opportunity to explore and re-imagine what it means to be “religious,” “spiritual,” “Christian,” “none,” “other…”. We are doing just that on the second Saturday of the month in Bend. We invite you to loosen your moorings and venture with us “Into the Deep.” All are welcome.
January 12th – On Mysticism
Saturday January 12, from 9:00 – 11:30 am Marianne Borg and Bill Ellis will continue the conversation. This month they will explore MYSTICISM; why it might not only be important but imperative to reexamine and redefine it. At best mysticism has been considered an experience of union with ultimate reality. More pejoratively it has been considered esoteric, occult, supernatural, nebulous, fuzzy, privatized. Albeit a realm available to “religious specialists,” which excludes most of us. We want to unfetter the “mystical experience” from “secret” or “hidden” knowledge and bring it into the every day. Where we experience it.
